This workshop was postponed from January 26 to February 9. There are several spots still available.
In this 3 hour workshop, Dr. Maria Glinski will provide participants with an understanding of the canine superficial muscles, the bony landmarks of the skeletal structure and the massage strokes appropriate for the various muscle groups. Participants will utilize digital circles, cross-fiber, kneading compression and acupressure/trigger point therapy. By the end of the evening participants will have conducted a full body massage and stretching regimen on their canine partner.
The goal of the workshop is to help owners integrate massage into both conditioning for the canine athlete and injury recovery. Owners will have the tools necessary to develop a baseline of knowledge regarding their dog’s musculature. The ideal outcome would be for owners to be capable, while performing a massage, to know “oh, this just doesn’t feel right.”
The evening will consist of power point presentations, demonstrations of techniques and hands on practice with your dog. Participants should be able to spend most of the three hours on the floor with their dog. Depending on the size of the dog, a table covered by a pad may be more comfortable for both you and your dog. More details regarding the logistics and what participants will need to bring will be provided after registration is complete.
